The Spence Connection

I currently work for The Spence Connection as the Social Media Marketing Specialist. The Spence Connection is a luxury travel service that connects discerning travelers with top-tier travel experts. Founded by John Spence, who has over 30 years of experience in the industry, the company focuses on crafting highly personalized, immersive, and expertly curated journeys. With a commitment to exceptional service, The Spence Connection pairs clients with the best in travel, ensuring unique and memorable experiences.

At The Spence Connection I develop and execute social media strategies across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn to enhance brand awareness and engagement. I create and publish copy across multiple channels, ensuring consistency and engagement. I conduct interviews and edit videos for social media using Adobe Rush to bring content to life. Additionally, I assist in managing blog posts and maintaining the website through Squarespace. I also oversee our CRM in HubSpot, crafting and sending targeted e-blasts to segmented audiences. It’s been an amazing experience learning about the travel industry and meeting industry leaders making a difference in their communities through eco-tourism.

One of my favorite interviews we conducted was with Mark ‘Butch’ Butcher, the Director of Imvelo Safari Lodges. Butch is a true hero of community and conservation in Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe. Through his tireless efforts, he has played a pivotal role in preserving the region’s wildlife and supporting local communities. His work goes beyond traditional conservation, focusing on sustainable tourism, wildlife protection, and empowering the people who live alongside these precious ecosystems. makeitMVP is a collaborative community for tech transitioners. The mission at makeItMVP is to empower bootcamp graduates and aspiring tech professionals by providing a collaborative community that offers mentorship, project-based learning, and networking opportunities. Through workshops, events, and the Launch Academy learning program, makeitMVP aims to bridge the gap between bootcamp education and career transitions into the tech industry.

At makeitMVP, I managed social media channels across Instagram and LinkedIn, curating engaging graphics with Canva for campaigns like Motivational Monday, Tech Talent Thursday, and GiveTech December. I also launched monthly newsletters, highlighting MVP Milestones, upcoming career events to help MVPers enhance their skillsets, and featured blogs that I authored.

#giveTechDecember

One of our most successful marketing campaigns was #GiveTechDecember. Through this initiative, we connected MVP community volunteers with nonprofits in need of tech support. This allowed MVPers to give back while gaining valuable hands-on experience, all while helping nonprofits enhance their digital presence; one member even landed a full time job from this campaign.
